What To Tell Your Massage Therapist

By sharing certain information with your therapist at the start of your session, they will be better able to meet your needs and you’ll receive the maximum benefit from your session. Here are some helpful tips on what to let your therapist know before and during your session.

  1. Let your therapist know if you’ve had any recent injury, when it occurred, and what caused it. Or if you’ve had any past injuries, and still have nagging pain. With this information, your therapist can adjust the techniques and pressure they use in the injured area.
  2. What kind of pressure do you prefer? It is good to tell your therapist before the session starts. Then of course during the session, let your therapist know if they can adjust the pressure in any way. Don’t be shy about saying this as often as is needed. This is your session, and we want it to be as satisfying as possible for you.
  3. Do you prefer lotion or oil? Let us know if you have any allergies or if you prefer an unscented oil.
  4. Do you have any music preferences? Sometimes the music selection cannot be changed, but volume is definitely up to you. Blissful silence is always an option.
  5. Let your therapist know if the room temperature is too cool or too warm. We want you to be comfortable and relaxed.

The more information you share, the better your therapist can adjust the session to suit you and your body!
